It is very important to treat it correctly otherwise acne leave some very hard to remove scars that can become permanent. In order to treat it, you should know the real facts about it. Do not wait it out instead of seeking treatment because this can result in severe cases of acne and scarring. Despite a gradual enhancement of awareness about acne, there are still an astonishing number of acne myths that cloud public perception.

Acne is caused by dirt. False. Acne is never cause by dirt but you should keep your skin clean and clear by washing with a mild soap. Do not wash your skin hard and frequently. This can make it worse.
Spot treatment works. Yes and No. It can work for a few pimples locally but if the root cause of acne is not treated, you will have breakouts later.
Certain foods cause acne. False. Research has shown that food has nothing to do with acne. So, chocolate, French fries or coke do not cause an outbreak, But, you should always eat healthy to promote a clear skin.
Acne is caused by too much sex. False. Your sexual habits have no effect on acne.
Getting a tan will help with acne. False. Sunbathing will not cause your pimples to go away, although the tan may make the redness of your acne less noticeable. Be careful when out in the sun to protect your skin from the harmful sunlight.
