Anyone ever use accutane (Isotretenoin)?
Hi
I've had moderate acne since I was 12. I'm 32 years old now. Every type of treatment known to man has failed: Antibiotics, creams, gels, lotions, soaps, clensers, ointments, voodoo (haha just kidding). Nothing works. My doctor decided to prescribe me accutane (well, acnotin) as a last resort because this )(("=)·U" just refuses to go away with no known cause (hormone levels, thyroid, all normal).
I'm perfectly aware of the side effects such as dry skin and lips (moisturize twice daily and carry lip balm on me at all times) dangers of birth defects (i can't get pregnant so no worries there) and liver damage (monthly blood tests) but one thing that worries me completely is the possibility of losing my hair.
I've read several blogs where people complain of losing massive amounts of hair during or after using this drug. I have baby fine thinning hair anyway, and if I lose a lot more i'll be balding. It scares me out of my mind, even though my dermotologist SWOOOOORE To me that it wouldn't happen and to ease my mind he gave me a hair skin and nail fortifying vitamin.
I just wanna know if anyone out there who has taken it or KNOWS someone who has taken it experienced hair loss, if so, when, how much and did it grow back?
And on a scale of 1-10 how happy are you with the results and after how much time?
Thanks
P.S. since Isotretenoin is a retnoid (vitamin A) its possible to help the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles too as a secondary happy consequence?

Don't know your exact situation and am not a medical doctor but please check all information you can before taking Accutane. The possible side effects may not be worth the benefit.
My best friend had very severe stage 3 acne from the early teens. He was perscribed Accutane and the results were very encouraging and we were all so happy for him. Unfortunately, he also came down with the rare side effect of Bell's Palsy and was paralyzed from the neck down for a few months and then just on the right side of his body for about a year. His condition gradually got better. The family sued and got a settlement but no one thought it was good compensation for bringing my friend so close to such debilitation and possible death!

Please consult closely with your doctor. Again, my friends' case may have been a rare one but . . .just be very cautious.
The side effects from accutane are a serious concern. Have you tried Skincerity breathable nightly skin masque? It is an amazing product in so many ways. 1. It kills the bacteria on your skin that causes acne with a pharmaceutical grade acetone that is perfectly safe. 2. It lets oxygen in while retaining your own natural moisture which will help the skin restore itself. 3. It has Vit. E and grape seed oil which are high in antioxidant to help repair damaged cells. 4. With consistent use it will diminish fine lines and wrinkles by holding the moisture in the skin while you sleep. I am 55 yrs.old and my crows feet beside my eyes are gone after 2 months. This is a very healthy product that was researched uner funding by the National Health Institute. Your skin is worth it.
