I want to stop using my prescription acne treatment?

Ive been using it for about 5 to 6 years. It is Clindoxyl. One of the strongest (if not, strongest) topical treatment available. I also use teatree oil wash and take vitamin a tablets daily for the treatment of my severe acne. My acne is now light to moderate, but I feel as though the medication is too strong and its drying my skin and causing pre mature wrinkles, etc.
Oh, and it is .00 a month JUST for the clyndoxyl!!

So, do you think it will make me breakout if I stop using it? Have I been using it for too long? ( i havent had a dr is years) any tips?

I have also used prescription acne medication, and if it is drying out your skin try to cut down how much you use first. If you feel you'd like to stop I wouldn't do it cold-turkey. Ween yourself off of the medication and see how your skin looks as you go. It'll be easier on your skin and you will be able to see if your acne will get worse when you finally do go completely off. I do not think it will make you breakout if you stop using it but if the medication is still controlling your acne there is a chance you will breakout once you stop, if your acne does not worsen as you use less of the product you can try going off of it for a few weeks to see how your skin does, if you don't breakout then you should be fine, and if you do continue to break out, use less of the medications so you do not dry your skin out as badly.

Go ahead and stop. If your acne flares you could ask for generic clindamycin lotion which should be as effective, less drying and much less expensive.
