Please help! The skin around my mouth is super dry and its peeling off

in Vitamin Acne Treatment

The skin around my mouth is super dry and the skin is peeling off…. a possible reason for this is because I just changed the treatment I used for my acne…. I believe that it is super strong… and Once I put it around my mouth(where there is no acne), it made my skin really dry

My mouth feels like its gonna get ripped or something. When I open my mouth to eat or something I feel like dying. It's a sunday and I cant go to the hospital… and I have school tomorrow and all…. can someone plz help me..

Do I need to ice it or something?

—-more details————————-

its around my mouth… not lips…. like right under my lips and the side of my lips…. I apply a lip balm over there(some ppl told me… but I dont think so..)???
- The skin is like peeling off… and it really hurts a lot when I try to open it to eat something!!

-also Im not using anything for my face. Im just using water to wash it cuz its super dry…

-and its not like cuz i lack vitamins or anything like that…. I drink plenty of water everyday and all…. its probably because of the acne product I used.
Help me!!

could be wind burn, or a burn from your product your using. try using vasaline and if it does clear in a few days see your doc. good luck

lotion and vaseline my friend had the same problem

put chapstick on your lips and around them. put lotion or something on it too, there is also first aid cream that everyone should have in there home, it helps mosturize and helps kill germs.

Believe it or not, good lip balm will heal that. Otherwise, lotion will work. Once the skin dries, apply it again.

use vasoline. it is the cheapest and best moisturizer

Pippa S March 6, 2010 at 9:29 pm

whatever you do avoid keeping wetting it as this will further the problem- so ice is a no no

apply a ton of vaseline around your mouth, and try real hard not to mess with it

maybe skip school if you can and go see a doctor

all you can do is not touch it/wet it, and keep applying more vasaline all over

gws

good luck

My brother has the same problem. He just either puts Chap Stick around his mouth or vaseline. I know it may sound weird but if you really rub it in there it works and you wont really notice it.

Vasaline would help. DO NOT lick you lips, i know its hard but don't. Makes it worst. If consits contact your doctor.

Try Aquaphor.. its usually found in the baby isle…. Its dermatologist recommended… i used it when i was taking acne medicine and it really helps!

Try neosporin or another ointment to ease the discomfort. Lip balm can help, but I would think the neosporin would help heal it better and relieve the pain.

Geenahh March 6, 2010 at 9:29 pm

As you said, it's most likely due to the medication you were using.
Try something super moisturizing like aquaphor or eucerin cream. It may take a couple of days to heal up unfortunately. Good luck

You probably had a bad reaction to the medication you took. You can try a cream like neosporin to stop the dryness, but that probably won't solve the problem. Are there walk in clinics where you live? You could try to go to one of those and they could change your medication or give you something to stop the redness and peeling because that has to be really painful. If there are no clinics around – most doctors have an answering service – I'd have your parents call so the doctor can call you and tell you what to do.

Also – don't use hot water – use only cool water – hot water will dry your face out more.

Quit washing it with water. Apply a lotion, or better yet a topical cream such as cortizone or even diaper rash lotion such as Desitin will do the trick, if you have it. If you're not sure what the cream is, don't use it, use a regular lotion.
Do this every single time you feel it drying out; slather on a lot. Do not use vaseline, it will just sit on top of the skin and not pentrate the deeper problem. If you notice any burning or increased redness, immediately wipe off (gently, don't scrub) and wait about half an hour before trying something else.
The dryness should get noticeably better by tomorrow if you keep lotion on it consistently. If it doesn't, call a doctor.

STOP putting water on it. this will only dry it out more. put lotoin on it and moisturize it a bunch w/ vaseline, too. keep it moist

Try putting some unscented lotion, vasaline, or unscented lip balm on a small area. If it hurts too much, do not put more.

It sounds like a chemical burn. You should really see a doctor if none of the above help. You could end up with scarring.
