Should I take accutane(Help please)?

I am now 20 and I still have to deal with problem skin.I always eat right and I have tried colan cleanses and taking multi vitamin.I hate that I'm in college now and still have to deal with this.I hate when people like familly members and what not suggest that I try this and that because I have already tried this and that. They think its easy to have clear skin just because they have it.I don't have any weight problem but getting clear skin for me is much like losing weight for many others.Anyway my mom has suggested I go to the dermatologist and she said she would take me.But I am so afraid to go because I feel like even the dermatologist will critise me and say well what are you eating. You mustbe eating junk food, even though I don't drink soda anymore and I don't eat fast food.I mainly cook at home.I just feel like I might be one of those people who go in and the dermatologist say's WOw! this is the worse I've ever seen. Now occasionally I will see people around my age with skin like mine, but not often.I feel like it is very abnormal. So I was thinking about going to the dermatologist and getting accutane. It's just that I have a job and I'm around people all day.I feel like I can afford the initial break out.I wish I could afford to stay home for 6 month and do online classes while taking it but I can't.Can you guys tell me any personal experiences about going on accutane? And how was your first visit to the derm?p.s I don't have the cystic kind of acne.JUst allot of small bums and some scarring.I just want to know what to expect. And if anyone has done the treatment while working a job? Also is it worth it with all the possible side effects?
Please excuse my grammar.Someone posted b4 I can edit it.

I had acne till I was 21, so I know exactly what you are talking about! Definitely go on accutane! I'm 4 months into my treatment and feel AMAZING. I actually feel like I have normal skin now….no breakouts, no oily skin, and the texture has completely changed. I really wish I could have taken it sooner.

My dermatologist has never once asked me about my diet! I mean I was a vegetarian who didn't even eat any junk food really, and I was still breaking out.

You may not even have an initial break out, it's a small percentage who get it. I never had it, I saw a difference in my skin in 3 days, it works so fast! And accutane has like a 98 or 99 percent success rate. So trust me it works!

You are monitored every step of the way and have tests each month to make sure all your organs are functioning properly. I'm 4 months in on a pretty high dose and all my tests come back PERFECT, my doctors are impressed every time. The only side effect I've had is chapped lips, which everyone gets. Use aquaphor for the lips and they heal right up!

It's easy you just take 2 pills a day, and go about your business.Once your done with your treatment, you don't have to worry about acne EVER again!

My cousin went on it and did not like the way it made her feel — very emotional and angry, and once she had a bad nightmare and was scared. There are many other options I Would NOT do Accutane.

No. That drug only works fine with a handful of people. I would never try an Iffy product with life long effects. Get a prescription from a dermatologist. Dermatologist are very laid back and they'd never put you on spot like doctors -___-. I'm terrified of doctors but dermos are fine(:. They won't judge you. Skin interests them, and I bet they had some of their own struggles. It's not as bad as you think . Hope everything works out alright :) .

i was on accutane for like 6 months. For me personally, accutane was great for me. I suffered from acne and now i have no scarring and no pimples and no long lasting side effects. Although there are many side effects it is VERY closely monitored, so don't worry to much. once a month you have to get blood work and once a month you have to go to the dermatologist for a check up. (depending on your job that can be a real pain) As for your first visit, dermatologists specialize in skin and they will not judge you or accuse of eating the wrong foods at all. They may want you to try a more mild perscription first though, im not sure. i started off taking solidyn but it didn't work… My only side effects while taking accutane were very chapped lips and some back pain.

the dr will have you try everything else first and accutane as a last result because it is so strong and dangerous but it worked for me. skin doctors may ask you a little bit about you diet but really not much.

accutane takes about 6 months to START working and then at around a year you will see even more of a difference. It continues to keep clearing up your skin for 1-3 yrs even after u are not taking it anymore ( once your prescribed amount of time is over ) I took it long ago and am glad that I did. Keep it mind DO NOT touch your skin, pick, etc.. It can cause scars. Trust me I know. I have clear skin but lots of acne scars from poppin' zits and messing w my skin. I was about 15 when I was on accutane. I'm 32 now and still have the scars. I wish left my hands off my face. Wash your face as needed then leave it ALONE. good luck!
