very dry skin on face?

in Vitamin Acne Treatment

s winter now. im 17 yr old girl and i have been getting very dry skin on my face ex under my eyebrows and above eyebrows, my cheeks and sides of face and below my lips on my chin

i exfoliate often ex.when it gets flaky so i can get rid of some of the dead skin coming off.

on my chin it like flakes its kinda unnapealing haha and anoying me. i use all organic products for acne treatment i have very mild acne. but the products i use on my face are all 100% organic. its called boscia

but im wondering what are some good ways i could moisturize my face. vaseline only acts as a cover or film on top of the skin it does not go in and penetrate the skin which is what i need i think
vitamin E oil suposedly penetrates the skin? i dunno much about this
but what are some good ways i can hydrate my skin without using expensive products. example vitamin e oil

anything im willing to try haha and also has anyone had this experience of dry skin on the face and what did you do to fix it?

im jsut trying to hydrate my skin to make it nice and smooth and soft

I would just keep on looking after your skin, as in exfoliating (to stimulate blood cells and new growth – although, make sure you use a gentle exfoliator, and dont be to harsh!) and moisturizing using moisturizer for dry skin like yours. But, also drink plenty of water, eat plenty of fruit and veg full of vitamins that repair and make your skin healthy. Instead of vasaline like you said it wont penatrate, try using the palmers range, i like using the "swivel stick" which is handy to keep on you when your out, and you can apply it on your face, or lips. I have quite dry and chapped skin in the winter, and I find palmers really good, and if I try and stick to what I said, i do to be fair have better results with me skin :)

stop exfoliating. that's going to make it way worse.
find a cream that is very thick, like body butter.
I use clinique dramatically different moisturizer, i have really dry skin and it helps me a lot.
you can just get a trial size to see if you like it, or if you don't want to spend much, get a non scented body butter.

i use oil of olay and it is lush :D

Franz James and the groovy February 19, 2010 at 7:12 am

Use baby oil. It keeps your skin soft in the winter. They make gels and different scents now, too.

Chachee February 19, 2010 at 7:12 am

I have the same problem
I use a face buffer in the shower to remove dry skin
probably the best thing you could do is not use so much products on it
that might be why it's acting up

Moisturise with Nivea

i get dry skin on my face to. its the worst when i get out of the shower because of the hard water "chlorine" and my face is soo itchy and feels like its burning almost. so i use clinique moisturizing cream. I buy it from sears for about 30.00 dollars. I love it and i would really recommend it! i have tried other creams and nothing works like this. You can get it oil free if you want, so your face doesn't look greasy. im the same age. I apply it usually after a shower in the morning, and before putting on make up or any other foundation.

I also have dry skin sometimes, it happens to many people in the winter time. Try getting a non-oil based face lotion no hand lotion. Apply it before you go to bed and when you wake up. Try to see if that works. You may be going through hormonal changes as well around this time and its going to affect your face.

If it gets really bad try to see a dermatologist.

Its winter, thus the air is dry. Other than using moisturizers, try avoiding taking long hot showers because you lose alot of skin oil there and your skin moisture evaporates immediately as you move from a hot shower to a colder room. Get a humidifier for your room(s) to prevent air dryness. If you can't afford one, leave a open pot of boiling water to evaporate. Lastly, drink at least 8 cups of water.

wash your face with cetaphil and also use cetaphil moisturizer its fairly cheap and you can get them at any drugstore. also drink lots of water.

Exfoliating your skin is good, but it also dries out your skin. If you constantly wash your face but don't moisturize it, that strips your skin of it's natural moisture, and causes it to go into overdrive in oil production to compensate, which can actually cause more acne. You need to start moisturizing after every time you wash your face. Whatever you do, get OIL FREE moisturizer, oily moisturizer will make acne worse. My favorite moisturizer is Neutrogena oil free moisturizer, I use it twice a day – in the morning and evening after I exfoliate and cleanse. It makes my skin soft, but not sticky or oily.

Use a moisturizer with green tea in it.

carboluver February 19, 2010 at 7:12 am

Vitamin E oil is excellent for your skin. I would slather it on before bed, and then wash it off in the morning and apply a good moisturizer. I think the benefit of having the oil soak into your skin overnight will make any moisturizer work. Try to find one that isn't loaded with scent. The perfumes can aggravate. If you are using a good exfoliating product, then some of the little white flakes of skin could be from that. That means it is doing what its supposed to do.

use cetaphil totally works! this happens to me all the time.. works after 2-3 days

I have very similar problems! Often in winter (Canadian winter, where I am) I get flaky skin on the sides of my face, a rash on my neck (from wind) and like you, dry skin near my eye brows. I had a "breakout" of this dry flaky skin a few weeks ago and I am finding the best thing is using those exfoliation gloves (and I use just water) once or twice a day. I go pretty rough on mine, its hardy because of years of excema. When my skin is still wet, I put on Mary Kay face cream and this usually helps within a couple of days.

Ive recently started using Olay Foaming Face Wash for sensitive skin.. its EXTREMELY moisturizing it leaves your skin so soft throughout the day. Its very thick & almost feels like its still on your skin when your rinsing, but dosent leave a film. Id use this in combination with Olay Complete Cream, Ponds dry skin cream or Cetaphil Moisturizing cream which is a little bit more expensive. All of those products moisturize very well & since they are all for sensitive skin you dont have to worry about any adverse effects, they are all available at the drugstore! Try the foaming face wash though youll be amazed!
