What is a good natural home remedy to improve acne scars?

I have had breakouts since I was about 12 and every once in a while still do. What makes it worse is I have the habit (sometimes even unconsciously) of touching/picking at my face a lot and as a result my skin, if you look closely, has a lot of tiny craters and scars from the acne. My pores also seem to be getting bigger the older I get (I'm 25).

My skin seems to fluctuate between being way too oily and way too dry. When I put on foundation it just seems to appear dry and flaky, even if I've used moisturizer first. Other times it feels like someone just poured oil on my forehead. I can't figure out how to get an even balance, but I just want to have the smoother skin I used to have even just a couple years ago.

I would love to get microdermabrasion but I can't afford it right now. I would love to hear suggestions on how to smooth out my face with cheap store-bought items or simple home remedies. I've heard lemon juice helps, as well as Vitamin E oil. Any others?

I'm not necessarily looking for acne treatment suggestions, as that's not my primary concern right now. I want to shrink the pores and craters on my face so it looks smoother. Even a little more expensive suggestions (but cheaper than microdermabrasion) would be appreciated!

I've been using tea tree oil on heavy break out areas when it looks like it could result in scarring. It dehydrates my skin a lot though, so you should dilute it with water or by a less concentrated bottle. It promotes healing and I use it for so many other things. My acne scars are definitely much lighter than before after using it.

Well, a scar is forever. Sorry. Maybe microdermabrasion will help, maybe not. Best thing to do is to not cause any more.
Vitamin E is for healing sores so they are less likely to scar or at least scar as little as possible. Once you've already got a scar, too late.

Sorry again about the pores. This is how your face is going to look from now on. Welcome to adult skin, gone is that flawless pre-puberty face. Worse yet, I'm 44 and still get zits now and then.

That oily to flaky is probably because of all the products you're using. First you dry it out with product and it gets flaky. It then compensates but producing more oil…you got to leave it alone. At 25 you shouldn't have to be using moisturizer. I haven't even had to start using moisturizer yet! That's for elderly women. By now you know that foundation causes clogged pores and zits and blackheads, do you really need it?
